Next up in our series “Your 3FO All-star Team,” the spotlight focuses on Lead Developer Joren Matthews, a tech enthusiast with a flair for creativity, both in and out of the office.
When he’s not delving into the latest tech trends, you’ll find him painting miniatures or hitting the trails on his mountain bike. Joren is deeply involved in the back end of all our projects, ensuring that every website we create is built on a solid foundation. If you’ve had a website designed by our team, chances are he built the backbone on which your website was created. His expertise and dedication are key to bringing our clients’ visions to life.
I enjoy miniature painting, tabletop wargaming, and mountain biking.
I’ve been painting miniatures for 4-5 years now. It all started when I was a kid, painting war game pieces. Recently, I’ve focused on learning the details, watching more videos, and mastering techniques with both paintbrush and airbrush. I even participate in painting competitions at local 3D model stores.
During the pandemic, I rediscovered my love for mountain biking, something I used to do as a kid. Now, with an electric mountain bike, I hit the trails almost every week. It’s a great way to balance my indoor time, refresh my mind, and take a break from the computer. I often explore trails around San Jose.
I stumbled into a job nearly two decades ago with Internet Simplicity, which eventually became part of 300FeetOut. I enjoyed what I did and who I did it with, and still enjoy what I do with 300FeetOut.
I work on 3FO projects and investigate and establish the technologies we choose to work with. My favorite part of my job is figuring out new things to improve how we work and the products we can deliver.
For me, it’s the combination of problem-solving and creativity that I do daily that I enjoy. Every website is different because the designs are unique, the technology is constantly evolving, and there’s infinite potential to improve.
I try to meet their needs as best as I can, above and beyond what they may have explicitly asked for. For example, it’s very common for a request, even a detailed and well-considered request, to lead to a suboptimal result when actually implemented. I like to find the best solution, which is often more than what the client anticipated.
I discuss features with our developers and designers to hash out solutions that will work well helping us to be practical from an implementation and maintenance perspective.
And there you have it! Joren’s dedication to his craft and his unwavering commitment to excellence make him an invaluable member of the 300FeetOut team. Stay tuned for more insights into our all-star team as we continue to dive into the stories of the incredible individuals who drive our success.
